Rotary Club of
Dhulikhel and Rotary Club Edwardstown Australia jointly worked to provide
drinking water and micro irrigation in Kalyanpur and Ramnager Kamaiya
settlement in Bardia and Kailali district.
Rotary Community Corps
Kailali has successfully completed to drill 9 water bore of 100 feet to 160
feet deep. Water project was implemented
by RCC Kailali. Entire matching grant project #77094 benefiting 461 household
and one higher secondary school children more than 2970 people will get water
for their daily use and in vegetable and
farm land to grow more food and vegetables. Recently Rotarian John Price, Ashok
Shrestha, Kamala Shrestha and Leighton Price and RCC coordinator Bijaya Karki coordinated
with community and Rotary Dhulikhel and
arranged project to hand over 9 water bore including diesel water pumps to the
Mukta Kamaiya (ex-Bonded labour)communities in Kalyanpur , Ramnager and Saraswoti Higher
Secondary School. Rotary has spent Rs.1,165,916.00.
Rotarian John of
Edwardstown Rotary Club visited in 2009 in the village and donated one water
bore which impacted very much in Mukta Kamaiyas life and inspire to provide
more water bore as community has repeatedly demanding such support through
local RCC club. During the project handover ceremony Rotarian also distributed
480 packets of ten varieties of seeds which was sponsored by Community
Development and Relief Agency (CDRA) Nepal.
Rotary Club of Dhulikhel is
also working with Rotary Club of Portland Pearl, USA and CDRA Nepal to build
primary school in Ramnager Kamaiya settlement. Thousands of Mukta Kamaiya
people were thanked to huge efforts of Rotary for addressing their immediate
need of water.
