Rotary Club of Dhulikhel
with the collaboration of Rotary Club of Portland Pearl has installed solar system of 9.12 KVA to supply electical
power for the need of Bayalpata hospital in Achham district of Nepal. 48 solar
panels, 24 batteries, 2 inverters has been donated to the Hospital. The
hospital will be beneficial with access of electricity 24x7 including
the surgical unit and biology laboratory. The project was started on 23 August 2012
and completed on 18 February 2013.
Rotary partners - Rotary Club of Dhulikhel,
Rotary Club Portland Pearl, Rotary Club of Portland, Rotary Club Seaside,
District Designated Fund-D5100 and The Rotary Foundation has contributed the
total project cost of US$47,925 under the Matching Grant #76945. With the
cooperating agency Nyaya Health and contractor Ghampower Pvt. Ltd., the solar
system was handed over to Bayalpata Hospital Director Mr. Stephen Petersen by
the project primary contact person Rtn. Ashok Kumar Shrestha and Representative
from Rotary Club of Portla
nd Pearl Rtn. Jordan
Weisman.
There will be 30,000 patients to get indirectly benefits on each year, while Rs. 9,00,000 will be saved on operating cost of generator every year. Hospital administration, staffs and the patients were feel very happy to get uninterrupted power supply.
